Description

Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is a nice quality needlepoint image of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps official King's Crown badge in full color surrounded in a wood frame with legs.

Measuring 19" wide by 25.5" tall including wood frame and legs. Possibly a gift to the regiment from one of the Officer's wives and dating from at the earliest 1918 when the corps became eligible to include "Royal" in it's title and certainly prior to 1953 when Queen Elizabeth came to the throne. We estimate that it dates from the 1930s.

The Royal Ordnance Corps evolved from the "Board of Ordnance" led by the "Master General of Ordnance" which was done away with in 1855. The responsibility of the Corps was the maintenance of all ordnance including small arms and ammunition.

An interesting Regimental souvenir with many practical applications, just perfect for the man cave!
