Description

Original Item: Only One Available. We’ve never had anything like this before and we never will again. This is an Original German Paratrooper (Fallschirmjäger) parachute, unissued, still packed in the original transit can which is fully marked and Coded "ebr" which stands for:- "Westermann & Co., G.m.H., Metal-u.Lackierwarenfabrik, Neieim- Ruhr."

In addition to all the original German WW2 markings on the lid of the Can we find in white paint:

(From) "Sgt. Jasper Mack, Serv.co 44 AI Bn., APO 256 c/o PM, New York, N.Y."

(To) " Miss Jennie Mack, Hillsboro, Illinois"

On each of the two larger sides of the Can we find these addresses repeated and a listing of contents: "2 German Parachutes, Trophy Certificate enclosed".

The sand colored (Gelbbraun) Can, with several dents and dings from shipping and handling over the years measures:- 17" X 12" X 19" and has four locking brackets (complete & functional) one at each corner.

One silk parachute enclosed appears to be complete with ropes and cords, is of olive drab color and seems to have never been unpacked. The canvas bag carrier is marked:-

" Gerat Nr.10-3129.01, Werk Nr. 5058949 K"

On the flap side of the bag several markings have been officially deleted (German style)

but a marking of “B.A. 3500" remains. WE HAVE MADE NO ATTEMPT TO UNPACK THIS PARACHUTE!

Well, there you have it, an Original German Paratrooper's Parachute, marked and unissued, in it's original marked and coded Transit Can. Additionally bearing the name of the G.I who mailed this back during WW2, probably to his Sister, (being a "Miss"). Perhaps most interesting from a "personal history" point of view is the "declaration" stating just two parachutes were enclosed. One wonders what other War Booty came home inside this bundle…silver, gems or other looted treasure? Who knows.

Never to be repeated, a Collectors dream, the entire package as described.
