Original Item: Only One Available. Designed by the Office of Naval Research's Special Devices Center, this cutaway classroom training model measures 79 inches in overall length, and demonstrates the inner workings of the Browning Model 1919A6 Machine Gun. These are very hard to come by, especially with all the parts still intact and on the original display stand. These were used as a way to familiarize service members with the inner workings of the Browning M1919, which was in use for decades as a front line weapon. It also bears many similarities to the Browning M2, which is still in service today.

The dispaly model is made from mostly non-magnetic material, we believe zinc or something similar, which definitely make it light weight, but also much less strong. With many areas cut out, this made it somewhat brittle, and parts were often lost. The cutaway looks to be complete, however the top cover did crack at one point, and was then glued together with epoxy of some sort. This also cracked through, so the top cover is currently in two pieces, but it still fits together fine for display, and could probably be repaired if desired. It does still cycle somewhat, but is quite stiff, probably due to being in storage for quite a long time. It still has lots of markings, and the 49" x 13" mounting board still has the correct marking on the top:

WORKING MODEL
BMG CAL. 30 M1919A6

The base originally would have had a data plate indicating where it was made and/or issued, however it has been removed on this example, as we often see.

A very nice example, ready to add to your collection and display!
