Original Item: Only One Available. This is both amazing and interesting. Manufactured during WW2 specifically to assist both Naval personnel and aircrews to identify ships from a distance.

There were instances of attacks taking place on friendly war ships so with these models pilots could become familiar with vessels from a great altitude and sailors from a distance on the horizon.

This set is contained in a wood chest measuring 27" x 14" x 6" that opens like a book to display 32 individual slots each containing either one or two model vessels. Each vessel is made from lead is marked with the ship's name or class.

In all this set has 45 vessel models ranging from battleships and aircraft carriers down to mine sweepers. Everything is painted battleship grey. Each model has incredible detail, however, just a few may be absent a small fitting or two.

Not really appropriate for the bathtub as all are made from lead, but never-the-less this makes a wonderful display that could easily be mounted on a wall.
