Original Item: Only One Available. This is a genuine Colt production M-1878 Double Action Army Revolver made in the first year of production. The barrel bears the Colt inscription and the "Pall Mall, London" address making this clearly a private purchase by a British Military Officer of the Victorian era.
This Revolver came directly from the Katmandu Military Armory and has lain neglected for over 100 years. The revolver still has complete original checkered grips and original lanyard ring on butt. The Cylinder axis pin lock screw is missing and although the revolvers dry fires there appear to be some adjustment needed to the pawl etc.
The Revolver is in a neglected condition as can be clearly seen. There is old pitting and a total absence of the original finish. There are Gurkha Battalion Marking on the blackstrap which can probably be researched (See: "Guns of the Gurkhas" by John Walter, available separately).
This is a very interesting first production year Colt
